Pastor Leonard E. Waller Jr., 48, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 5:25 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2012, at his residence following a courageous battle against cancer. Leonard was born in Hamilton, Ohio on January 6, 1964, the son of Leonard E. and Twyla (Morgan) Waller Sr. On June 6, 1985, Leonard married Marilyn Betts.
Leonard served as Pastor for twenty seven years in Southern Indiana and Illinois. At his death he was Pastor of the Oblong Wesleyan Church as well as a bank teller at the First National Bank in Oblong. He also assisted at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, Illinois. Leonard was a member of the Class of 1982 at East Central High School in Brookville, Indiana; a 1986 graduate with a Bachelor of Religious Education from God’s Bible School & College. Leonard’s passion was preaching. He enjoyed reading about the history of the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. He also enjoyed theological discussions, visiting with people and he loved Christmas and snow.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his parents, Leonard E. & Twyla Waller Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Nathaniel & Laura Waller; two daughters and a son-in-law, Hannah & Matt Bolmer and Esther Waller; a granddaughter, Abigail Bolmer; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Steven Waller, Brian & Heather Waller and Jason & Ann Waller; a grandmother, Dorothy Morgan Hughes; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Preceding Leonard in death were his grandparents, Charles & Mina Waller and Howard Morgan; and one uncle, Daniel Morgan.
Pastor Phil Kessen will officiate the funeral service. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
